Cleft Palate In Dogs
Sometimes puppies are born who can't suckle properly. An oral examination will usually reveal that they have a cleft palate. This is a serious medical condition, usually genetic, but sometimes caused by enviroment issues at the embyonic stage of developement. It's a failure of the two sides of the palate to join when the puppy was still an embryo.
